I just paid for the premium version and I am unable to mass delete my Facebook comments. There are hundreds of them but Redact is not finding them. I tried the advanced feature, still no luck. I searched this site but found no help. Thank you! Elizabeth
Hey @Elizabeth - thanks for posting! This is a tricky one for us to troubleshoot publicly.
If you don’t mind opening a ticket with our support team, we can investigate this properly Contact Redact
As general advice
- make sure to double check your filters / Redact settings
- deletions may take 24-72 hours to be reflected on the platform - this purely because of how social platforms work & is out of Redact’s control
- avoid using social media platforms while you’re running Redact on them, as it can cause some interference
asking for a friend who definitely is not me
The strange thing about cleaning up fb is that the platform itself has been sneak archiving versions of your activity in places you never actually see. The comments you wrote are one layer. The comments you almost wrote and didn’t post are another (yes they capture those too!). The reactions, the time you spent looking at someone’s profile, the inferences drawn from all of it. Mass deleting your visible comments is a useful gesture but I think it’s worth being honest with ourselves that the part of Facebook that knows the most about you isn’t the part you can see. Still worth doing. Just saying its useful to know what we’re actually accomplishing.
