Can anyone rell me how to locate and delete the local archive of the Facebook comments I have deleted - various searches suggest that this should be an option in redact but I can’t see it.

Are you using the desktop version or mobile?
In the Local Archive (left sidebar on desktop, bottom navbar “local backup” on mobile), you should be able to see and delete anything you need from your local archive.
If you’re on the desktop app and want to wipe the entire local archive, click your Redact account (bottom left in the app - should have your account email), then hit Settings → Local Archive section → red “Delete Local Archive Data” button
