I just got banned from r/AskReddit for mass editing my comments with Redact. They were able to detect my edits easily due to intentional limitations to the Redact application. The issue is that in the latest version of Redact it requires that redact.dev URL is added to all edits and this cannot be removed by the user. After some searching, it seems that this was added to appease Reddit mods: https://www.reddit.com/r/ModSupport/comments/1t1fekj/comment/ojg43xs/
As a paid user, I think it’s unacceptable to limit the app like this just to placate a handful of terminally online people.

Like you suggested - the URL is used as a deletion rule for reddit’s mod tools. Subreddit’s banning users for this is very rare; the vast majority understand and respect people’s right to manage their own digital footprint.
AskReddit, historically, deletes edited posts, but does not ban users. If you’ve been banned for editing with Redact, that is a change in behavior and we’ll update our documentation. We’ll reach out to them.
I’d also suggest appealing the ban, and using Redact to fully delete the comments.
