My main Discord account got suspended a few days ago. honestly I don’t even care about getting that account back anymore, I just want to nuke it so I can use my email/phone number for a new account.
The problem is, every guide I read says “Go to User Settings > Delete Account,” but I obviously can’t do that because I can’t log in.
Has anyone successfully forced an account deletion while suspended? I’ve heard it deletes automatically after 14 or 30 days, but I really don’t want to wait a month. Is there a support ticket category that actually works for this, or am I just stuck waiting?
Yeah youre definitely stuck in limbo right now. It’s a super annoying catch-22 that happens because of how their database handles unique identifiers (your email and phone).
Here’s the technical breakdown of what is happening and your only two real options.
First is the “Privacy Request” bypass (the faster way) since you can’t log in to hit the delete button, you have to force it from the outside. You can actually submit a ticket without logging in, but you have to categorize it correctly or a bot will auto-close it on you.
Go to the Discord support site (don’t log in).
Select “Help & Support” in the dropdown.
Enter the email attached to the suspended account.
Under “Type of question,” select “Account Deletion Request.”
In the description, don’t just say “I want to delete.” Cite data privacy. If you are in the EU, say “I am exercising my right to be forgotten under GDPR.” If you are in the US, mention you want to revoke data consent. This often flags the ticket for a human compliance team rather than the standard support bot, which speeds things up.
The “hard delete” Timer - if you do nothing, the system is designed to self-destruct the account, but it is not instant.
Day 0: Account suspended. The auth token is revoked, but the data is still live in the database.
Day 14-30: The account enters a “Pending Deletion” state. The username changes to “Deleted User [Random Numbers].”
Day 30+: The “Hard Delete” occurs. This is when the row is actually removed from their database tables.
Here’s the technical reason you cannot make a new account yet. Even if the account is “disabled,” your email and phone number are currently flagged as primary_key or unique constraints in their user table. Until that “Hard Delete” happens and purges the row, the system sees those credentials as “Taken.”
The Workaround (If you don’t want to wait) If you use Gmail, you dont need to wait for the deletion to start a new account. Register a new Discord account using like yourname+discord@gmail.com. Gmail ignores everything after the plus sign, so you still get the verification email in your main inbox. Discord treats it as a completely unique email address.
This gets you back in today without waiting for support to nuked the old account. Just don’t use the same phone number, as there is no workaround for that one until the old account is fully gone.
the good news is no matter what happens, eventually the account will get deleted by the system in about a month. worst case, you have to just wait a few more weeks. you’re going to make it, I believe in you!
Just one other major thing I’d add since we’re on the redact forum: if by “nuke” you meant you wanted to wipe your message history too, the bad news is that official account deletion doesn’t actually do that.
It just renames your profile to Deleted User #0000 and anonymizes the data, but all your actual messages, images, and hot takes stay up in those servers forever unless the server admins manually delete them.
Since you’re suspended, you can’t use a tool like Redact to scrub your history first, which is the real “gotcha” of getting banned. You’re basically locked out of your own cleanup process.
Also, regarding the phone number: even after the 30-day hard delete, the number sometimes enters a “cooldown” period where it says it’s still invalid for a few weeks. If you need a new account now and the + email trick works, you might still be stuck on the phone verification part unless you have a spare prepaid SIM. (Don’t bother trying Google Voice/VOIP numbers; Discord blocks almost all of them now).
