as the title says, is it at all possible that someone could know if you take a screen shot of their Facebook story? Or really, can Facebook or the user tell if you take a screen shot of any part of someone’s profile similar to how snapchat works?
My friend is saying she got a notification that I screenshotted her FB story (which I did), but I don’t see anything online saying Facebook works like that.
Facebook doesn’t have any type of screenshot notification that alerts users you’ve taken a screenshot. Unless it’s a new feature they’ve implemented recently, which I doubt or we would have heard about it as it would be a pretty noteworthily event.

Yeah, she’s definitely f’ing with you. Facebook doesn’t send notifications for story screenshots.
The only time you have to worry about that is in Messenger if you’re using Vanish Mode or an encrypted chat (that’s the only part that works like Snapchat). For regular stories or profile pics, you’re 100% in the clear. She probably just guessed you did it and is trying to make you admit it
Sounds like this is accurate! Screenshot notifications only apply to encrypted chats.
