Instagram Data Scraping Warning

Hi all. I’ve been using redact.dev to delete Instagram DMs, and opened the desktop app this morning and received a “data scraping” warning message. Presumably, this was triggered by redact. Are there any best practices/ways to prevent this from happening again? Thank you.

Did you upload your data file?

That warning is Instagrams automated abuse detection flagging the burst pattern of deletion API calls. Same system that flags accounts running engagement bots and other types of bots. Redact respects published rate limits but if your account was on the borderline for other reasons like a recent login from new device, password change, history of mass following/unfollowing or wehatever then the deletion activity can tip it over. Just pause active jobs and wait 24 hours then dismiss the warning via the app if available then resume with slower throttling.

Is there a way to manually reduce the speed of deletions?

They don’t have a setting for IG but they do for other platforms, not sure what’s behind that decision.
