Is there a difference between a blocked and a suspended account? How can I tell if someone blocked me vs actually just has a deactivated account? Do both visually look the same?
Ask your friend to check their profile, if your friend can view the profile that means you’re blocked. If the account is dead, your friend will see the same thing as you.
easiest 30 second test is to open a logged out browser, search their username. if the profile shows up with posts they blocked you specifically. if it’s gone from logged out searches too, they deactivated. its usually that simple.
The fastest way to tell a block vs a deactivated acct is to check from OUTSIDE your account. Logged out of ig in browser, incognito window, or even a friend’s account. Visible to them but not you = almost for sure blocked. Not visible anywhere = probably susp or deactivated or deleted or username changed.
“Instagram User” in DMs usually means the account is not available to you anymore, but it still doesnt always tell you why not. It could be a deactivation or a suspension.
The real signal is if that profile exists for other people besides you.
Go to this URL on another computer besides yours: Google Search
Replace Danielle with the username of your target profile and google it. If it shows up and you can click on the search result to see the profile, you’ve been blocked
You can also use 3rd party tools like this: Instagram Profile Analyzer – IG Account Activity Analytics
I did the logged-out browser test @TimBuckToo420 suggested and yep, profile right there with all the posts. so blocked it is. fantastic. wonderful. thank you all for helping me confirm the thing i was dreading.
