Does the US Government want to know your social media names or do they want actual login to your social media accounts?

I am referring to this story of course: https://www.cnn.com/2025/12/10/us/us-visa-waiver-social-media-check

nah they’re asking for your usernames/handles, not your actual login passwords.

On U.S. visa/immigration forms, the idea is “tell us what your accounts are so we can look them up,” not “give us your password” or “let us sign in as you.” If anyone is asking for your social media password as part of some “government requirement,” that’s a huge red flag and not how this is supposed to work at all lol

I don’t know but slim chance people would hand over their passwords to the US Government lol

Just create a fake account(s) to give them. Couldn’t you submit an account that isn’t even yours? If there is no name in the profile, how do they know if it’ is or isnt you?

they got me all sorts of F’d up if they think I’m handing over my passwords to them for anything. talk about a bunch of untrustworthy people….I’d give satan himself my passwords before DHS

I wouldn’t even give the government my usernames let alone my actual passwords. There is nothing inside America I need access to that badly, trust me.

As an American, I must apologize for my government. They are slow and don’t understand what they are doing. Please forgive them.
