Anyone know what exactly comes in an instagram data package? You know the one where you can download all of your data from the begining of your IG account. Is a followers list included?
pretty sure it does, I think they moved where the followers list inside the data itself. I remember reading about this some months back. The followers list is in there someplace.
Yeah Instagram data downloads usually do include follower info but it may not be sitting in an obvious “followers list” file depending on which download format you chose and how Meta structured the export at the time.
In most Instagram exports, you’ll want to look for folders or files related to:
followers_and_following
followers
following
connections
recent_follow_requests
pending_follow_requests
If you download the data in JSON format it may look a little less readable but the follower data is usually still there. If you choose HTML, it is often easier to open and browse because it looks more like a simple webpage folder.
The export usually shows the data Instagram has for your account at the time you requested the download, not a perfect historical record of every person who ever followd or unfollowed you.
It may include your current followers and following list, plus some related connection data, but it may not always include every past follower change in a clean timeline.
Meta changes the folder names and structure from time to time so if you don’t see a file literally called “followers,” search the whole extracted folder for “followers” “following” or a username you know is on your list someplace.
Yolur IG data includes pretty much EVERYTHING, including your followers. You should d/l it and see for yourself, you’d be shocked how much crap they save about you.

TBH the followers list is one of the most expected parts. The surprise in mine was the saved searches and hashtag history going back to 2017. Theres no UI to clear it and it doesnt get wiped on logout. that’s the stuff people don’t realize is being kept.
