Hey there,

Nope - Discord won’t ‘know’ if you use Redact.dev to delete stuff. They have rate limits (restrictions on the amount of actions you can take in a period of time) - but Redact respects these limits.

Thousands of people have used Redact for Discord and had no issues

When you run Redact, Discord interprets the actions as standard user actions. Basically, if you went through your Discord and deleted 1000 messages manually, it would leave pretty much the same fingerprint as Redact.

As long as you only run one version of Redact at a time, and don’t engage in spammy behaviour, you shouldn’t be at risk of any suspension or bans.

Specific servers might have their own policies re: deleting messages though - read server rules before deleting from them, if you’re concerned.

Your friend sounds…like an interesting cat.

Discord is not legally allowed to stop you from managing your own content. As in, there is an actual law about it. I do not know the specifics or the specific law in the books, but there is most certainly a law regarding it. I know this because I deal with something sort of similar at my job. Companies like Redact are not only allowed to offer service like this, the social media sites are actually not legally allowed to stop them unless they are causing malicious harm to their platforms. And managing or even mass deleting your own content absolutely falls under the law.

Discord can’t touch you even if they were 100% certain you were using redact to mass remove content.

Had to learn that too. As server I was in didn’t allow message deletion.

Hm, we have a tracker for subreddits that punish redact usage (here). We can set up something like this for people to post popular / public discord servers on - it just relies on people submitting the servers or reporting them to us.

I don’t think Discord would care anyone to be honest

If people actually knew how relaxed Discord employees were about stuff like this, they’d be surprised.
