Redact desktop app (Windows 10) won't let me sign into Reddit. Is this a scam?

Downloaded the Redact app. Made an account, logged in. Everything good so far.

I click on Reddit in hopes of getting the chance to redact all my reddit comments and posts. I see the page with the purple “Login to Reddit” button. I press it, and in the window that pops up I log into my reddit account. The window closes again, and the purple button that had “connecting…” written on it, changes back to “Login to Reddit”. Jack shit happens.

I’ve tried restarting Redact and restarting my computer. I am 100% sure I have not entered the wrong password, I copied it straight from my browser’s password manager.

Is Redact just a scam to get my login info? Or does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Just unsuccessfully tried to login with my reddit email instead of my reddit username, still no success.

Hey there, we most definitely do not have any visibility on or access to your login info. Platform logins (as well as your deleted content) is stored 100% locally on your device, not our servers. We have no way to access that data.

Sounds like you are encountering a technical issue with Reddit login in our app. If you’re using a DNS or proxy, try disabling it then attempting to login. If that doesn’t work, please get in touch with us via Contact Redact (Discord or email)
