You guys do any tiktok promotion? I do a lot on tiktok and wanted to share some info.

If you have a new tiktok account and want to gain the trust of the algorithm quicker so your videos start getting traction faster, do the following:

- First if you are going to create a new account, login with Facebook or Google. They also offer Apple as a login/signup option but I don’t know if Apple has the same authority aspect as Google and Facebook. If you’ve already created an account you can still connect services in the account settings so it’s not too late.
- IMPORTANT - You need to use your built-in tiktok tools on the mobile app. All of them like pictures, videos, create content with the tiktok app itself. Even if you don’t publish any of it and just save the content within the app, it’s OK. Obviously better if you also publish them but it’s not totally necessary
- Stay busy on the app engaging with other creators. Find whatever topic your page will be about and follow other creators within your industry. Comment on their content, like the content, watch their videos all the way through. Even watch some videos twice or three times. The whole goal is to show the algorithm that you’re a REAL HUMAN. So set aside a few hours per day for about a week to use the app, naturally. Take your time and watch the videos and engage in conversation in the comment section!

If you do that for a week, TikTok will be sure that you’re a human and not a bot. Just getting confirmed as a real human user puts you bumped up into a category of trusted account. It’s not going to make you go viral, but it unlocks the door so you at least now have the oppertunity to go viral. Until Tiktok can verify you’re a human, you wont go far on this platform.

One thing I see nobody recommended is to fill out every section of your profile to completeness, this actually makes a big difference and is well documented. Also verify your account with your mobile number, that’s a big one too.

| Idea | What it says | Source | Reliability |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Three signal buckets | Ranking comes from user interactions, video information, and device/account settings | TikTok Newsroom | Official |
| Device/account settings weighted lower | Language, country, device type get less weight because users don’t actively express them as preferences | TikTok Newsroom | Official |
| Follower count is not a direct factor | Neither follower count nor past high-performing videos directly feed the recommendation system | TikTok Newsroom | Official |
| Completion is a strong signal | Finishing a longer video gets greater weight than a weak signal like shared location | TikTok Newsroom | Official |
| No bulk automation | Automation, scripts, or tricks to register/operate accounts in bulk or bypass systems are prohibited | Community Guidelines (Integrity & Authenticity) | Official |
| Location obfuscation is manipulation | Methods that hide an account’s actual location to game recommendations are prohibited | Community Guidelines (2023 version) | Official |
| Fake metrics get stripped | Inauthentically inflated followers and likes are removed when detected | Community Guidelines (2023 version) | Official |
| Proactive fake-account removal | Fake accounts and engagement are detected and removed at scale, including bulk registration | TikTok Transparency (Countering Deceptive Behavior) | Official |
| Watch time and completion rate rank highest | Estimated 40 to 50% of ranking weight, the single strongest signals | Sprout Social / Hootsuite | Third-party estimate |
| Saves and shares beat likes | Saves and shares signal high value and often outweigh likes significantly | Sprout Social | Third-party |
| Small-audience testing then phased expansion | Videos are tested on a small group, then pushed wider if they perform | Sprout Social / Hootsuite | Third-party |
| Consistency over volume | Regular posting signals an active account worth distributing, but cadence matters more than raw volume | Hootsuite | Third-party |
| Self-views don’t count | Watching your own video does not boost distribution | PostEverywhere | Third-party (myth debunk) |
| Deleting weak videos doesn’t help | Each video is judged individually, so removing old posts won’t lift future reach | PostEverywhere | Third-party (myth debunk) |

If you’re outside EU, AU, US, or CA, or JP get yourself a VPN. Tiktok hates non 1st world traffic lol

I’ve been doing SMM on TikTok for 2 years. If I had to give one general rule, I’d mirror what someone else said above regarding having a complete profile and also making real videos of yourself. Although I think you need to actually post them in order for it to be a signal to the ttiktok algorithm.

As a social media marketer myself, these are my tiktok tips:

- post often. get to know how the algorithm works and what it likes and doesn’t like. try to post at least 2-4 vids per day
- pay close attention to memes and trending topics. catch the ride early when the trend or meme is just getting started.
- no profanity - the more G rated your content, the wider of an audience tiktok with share your content with
- interactions - comment on people’s stuff and reply to people who comment on your stuff. it’s really really good, it sends great signals to the tiktok algo
- post unique stuff. dont copy videos from youtube or IG and repost them, make stuff just for tiktok.

I find chit chatting with your commenters, assuming you even have commenters, works amazingly well. I don’t know if it’s a human nature thing or an algorithm thing but it sure seems to help my views and subscriber numbers

1 thing I can say with cearttinty is uploading from a computer or browser significantly hurts the video priority in the sense how how wide the reach will be. I guess tiktok assumes browser uploads are lesser quality posts for some reason. Always upload from a mobile phone if you can, specifically an iPhone. Yes, I do believe iPhone videos are treated better than Android and I am not the only one, there is a large consensus on this within the digital marketing world.
